For career day at school, you would say that you wanted to work for the government, go into science, be an engineer, or even law enforcement. You wanted to save the world and you wanted to do it in big way. College or your starter career might not have been all about hard work, but you knew you were on the right path just the same. Whether your family supported you, your friends understood you, or sailing into your adulthood went smoothly, you eventually received a letter, sent priority overnight with no return address, requesting your presence for a job interview. Not just any job interview, however. This would be the big one.
There might not have been any details in your letter save for a time, a place, and a redacted signature under a thick black mark at the bottom of the page but it didn’t worry you. Even as men and women with blank faces and well fitted suits led you to a black, unmarked van parked in the alley behind the address your interview was to be at, the only thing you remember feeling at all was excitement.
As you, and others as wide eyed as you, are led into a room with a wonky florescent light, a podium and projector at front and folding chairs arranged into messy rows, you know now as you knew then that there’s nothing to fear.
